Dear Clients and Friends:

Please be advised that on March 23, 2020, the Mexican Government published in the Official Gazette of the Federation the Decree whereby the Mexican General Health Board acknowledges the epidemic caused by the SARS-CoV2 (COVID-19) in Mexico as a serious illness that requires priority attention.

Furthermore, the Mexican General Health Board states the following:

  • It establishes measures for the preparation, prevention and control of the illness caused by the COVID-19 designed, coordinated and supervised by the Mexican Ministry of Health and implemented by agencies and entities of the Federal Public Administration, the Legislative and Judicial branches, the institutions of the National Health System, State Governments and several organizations for the social and private sectors.

  • The Mexican Ministry of Health will establish the necessary measures for the prevention and control of the epidemic due to the COVID-19 illness, through consensus with the agencies and entities involved in its application, including the specific modalities, the starting and conclusion dates of the corresponding measures, as well as the applicable territorial extension.

  • The Mexican General Health Board urges the State Governments, in their capacities as health authorities, and in general, the members of the National Health System, as soon as possible, plans hospital reconversion and immediate capacity expansion that ensures the timely attention of cases of the epidemic illness caused by the COVID-19.

  • The Mexican General Health Board is in permanent session until provided otherwise.              

The Mexican government has stated that work related activities that "involve the mobilization of people from their homes to work and back or that are leading to the mobilization of all sectors should be temporarily suspended. In all sectors: public, private and social ". Furthermore stating that companies "should not stop operations since all the country depends on them," asking the companies to launch their own plans for business continuation.


A decree dealing with permission for vulnerable employees will be published soon according to the President.
